Bettie the Werewolf Slayer?

Back to Halloween, it seems — and back to more strange new twists on old friendly characters. This time, it’s Archie and the Riverdale gang — in a new horror comic called Jughead: The Hunger. Yes. “Jughead Jones is an average (though endlessly hungry) teenage boy by day and a blood-thirsty werewolf by night. His latest victim in a spree of deadly attacks is longtime foe Reggie Mantle – after which Jughead left Riverdale without a trace. Now Betty Cooper: Werewolf Hunter and Jughead’s best friend Archie Andrews are hot on Jughead’s trail, but how many more lives will be sacrificed before they find him? On October 25th, join writer Frank Tieri (Wolverine) and artists Pat and Tim Kennedy (Death of Archie) for the terrifying first issue of the new Jughead: The Hunger series!” There’s an extensive review over at The Nerdist.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Sonic

It’s a big place that has been featured in hundreds of issues of stories – the longest running video-game inspired hit comic ever!” Written and edited by Ian Flynn, it features art by Patrick “Spaz” Spaziante and several others.

Justin… Beaver?

Evidently, some bad puns are just too good (or bad) to pass up… That, or some comic book companies don’t check with each other very often! It seems that not one but two different comic book companies have come up with parody one-shots called Justin Beaver — making fun of teen pop heart-throb Justin Bieber, of course, as if you couldn’t guess.  Even stranger, they’re releasing them to comic book shops almost simultaneously! Antarctic Press’ Justin Beaver is illustrated (in black & white) and written by Ben Dunn (Ninja High School), while Archie Comics’ Justin Beaver is the full-color cover story of Archie & Friends #155. Comics Alliance has an article on their web site explaining the whole thing, sort of.

From Boy Wizard… to Cat!

Salem the cat is a fan-favorite character from the Sabrina the Teenage Witch TV series and comic book line. The series is brought to you in full color by Ian Flynn and Chad Thomas.
