September, 2026:

It’s All Good, Brother

A special guest post from none other than Papa Bear himself, Grubbs Grizzly:

“Hi!  Last week the Good Furry Awards were presented at Anthro SoCal in Ontario, California. This is the eighth year of the awards, and some special announcements were made. The Good Furry Awards were founded in 2019 by Grubbs Grizzly and are sponsored by Uncle Bear Publishing (www.unclebearpublishing.com) and the furry advice column Ask Papabear (www.askpapabear.com). Furries are nominated by their peers in three categories:

  1. The Good Egg Award for charitable work
  2. The Image Award for broadcasting, and
  3. The Furtastic Award for other works of kindness and generosity
The nominees are then voted on by fans like you! Winners receive a handsome trophy and a small cash award. There is also a Lifetime Achievement Award for furries who have dedicated decades of their lives to the furry fandom and have had a significant impact on it.
This year, the winners were…
Paco Panda for the Good Egg Award
I’m Definitely Not a Popufur for the Image Award
and
Shy Matsi for the Furtastic Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Uncle Kage.
This year, a one-time-only Special Award was created and presented to Mango Axollama because they have received more nominations (6 out of 8 years, and it would have been 7 but they declined one year) and more votes than any other furry when you combine them over the years. Chair Grubbs Grizzly said, “I was starting to call Mango the Susan Lucci of the furry fandom for being nominated so many times without winning, and I really believed all the generous things he has done for his community merited recognition, so we created this unique award for a unique, kind, and very modest but deserving furry.”
The second very special announcement this year was that, starting in 2027, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be renamed The Sylys Sable Award for Lifetime Achievement in honor of the late Mark Merlino.
You can read more about the winners and the awards by visiting the Good Furry Awards web site.”
Thanks Papa Bear, thanks to all the voters, and congratulations to all the winners!

No, He’s Not Puff

Kindred Dragons is a new full-color graphic novel written and illustrated by Sarah Mensinga. “Alice has been unhappy ever since her parents sent her to Prince Edward Island to live with her strict grandmother. Alice is fanciful, prone to telling tall tales, and absolutely OBSESSED with dragons! Fairies deliver dragon eggs to a select few, known as Kindreds, but no egg has ever arrived for Alice. While wandering the woods alone, she finds and secretly befriends a mysterious old dragon named Brim. Alice is excited to finally have a dragon friend of her own, but when Brim suddenly falls ill, Alice must set out on a desperate quest to save him. As Alice searches for a cure, she discovers that her connection to dragons is unlike that of any Kindred—but will her new power be enough to save her friend?” Find out that and more, thanks to Abrams Books.

Panda Punches Pestilence

Recently came across this one: The Escapades of Ponchi Panda is a very very strange black & white comic from Cosmic Lion, written and illustrated by D.B. Supr. “Join Inquisitor Ponchi Panda as he navigates the Dreamscape to rid its many realms of Creatures who feed on human emotion known as Nightmares. The Escapades of Ponchi Panda is a tale where Dreams, Folklore, and Reality all collide into one epic saga.” Check out the sample pages over at the web site.
